For our division Quality Management at our location in Cologne we are looking for a

Quality Manager Leather (m/f/d)



  • In this role, your main focus will be to ensure and stabilize the Birkenstock requirements regarding leather.
  • As one of our Quality Managers, you will support our QM Team Supply and Raw Material, managing the supplier expansion and development, focusing on tanneries and leather technology.
  • You identify possibilities of optimizing the goods receipt and acceptance. Also, you are responsible for the inspection of incoming leather.
  • In collaboration with our production sites, you support in defining, determining and implementing quality requirements.
  • You assist in the selection of new suppliers as well as the development of our existing suppliers, focusing on quality and process stability.
  • You conduct supplier audits and derive quality determining optimization measures.



  • Education in Product and Process Engineering with a focus on leather processing and shoe technology, alternatively with an education in textile technology and fabrication
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Quality Assurance role, with specific experience in the technical development regarding all aspects of leather production and tanning as well as shoe production
  • Profound knowledge of all common shoe related materials, especially leather and fabrics
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Self-starter, paying a lot of attention to detail and taking all necessary steps in leading your division to sustainable improvement
  • Analytical-structured as well as accurate and independent way of working
  • Team spirit, confident and strong communication skills
  • Advanced experience with MS Office as well as knowledge of SAP and Database
  • Strong communication skills in English are essential, German as well as all further languages are regarded as beneficial
  • Ability and willingness to travel (at least 50 %)
