Finance Manager Nordics (m/f/d) 

 

YOUR TASKS:

  • Guarantee full compliance with all relevant local legislation by coordinating and managing external partners (e.g., statutory accounting standards, tax law, civil law) and internal group guidelines.
  • Manage the year-end audit process and external auditors, maintain a comprehensive system of controls over all accounting functions for three statutory entities Birkenstock Nordic ApS, Birkenstock Norway AS as well as Birkenstock Sweden AB.
  • Deliver the month-end close in cooperation with Group Accounting and with sufficient documentation.
  • Maintain effective credit risk and cash management with a clean sales ledger, take ownership of credit management and chasing overdue and risky debts whilst supporting Group Accounts Receivables. 
  • Be a Business Partner to the Managing Director for the Nordics region and support the colleagues in Customer Service and Sales in driving the business. Deliver insights and give recommendations to achieve the P&L targets (Revenue, Trade Terms, local OPEX).
  • Manage all local insurance topics (cars, claims, and general internal inquiries), property, financing (incl. leasing) and bank selection decisions in liaison with Treasury in HQ.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive control system regarding misconduct or fraud by designing company processes to satisfy the 4-eyes principle and ensuring a sufficient segregation of duties.
  • Create sound financial and operational performance reviews, e.g., month-end closing, budgets, forecasts, and reports to the Europe Financial Department. 
  • Measure, review, and challenge cost / benefit ratios of the proposed activities and implement best practices.
  • Coordinate and manage external audit, tax and legal partners to ensure corporate compliance matters are completed in a timely manner.
  • Work in partnership with the Retail team to support local retail operations.

 
YOUR PROFILE:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field, alternatively equivalent practical training
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in the fashion / lifestyle industry (B2B / Retail)
  • Strong accounting seniority (local accounting standards; initial experience with IFRS) and taxation know-how 
  • Knowledge of the local legal / statutory requirements 
  • Business Partner mindset for local team and coordination skillset with Group functions (Accounting, Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury)
  • Experienced and good business judgement with the ability to work very detailed combined with a hands-on mentality 
  • Self-motivated and adaptable team player with strong interpersonal skills and a supportive mindset
  • Analytical and result-oriented
  • Proficient in SAP combined with strong MS Excel skills
  • Fluent in Danish and English; basic knowledge in Norwegian and Swedish are a plus
