Head of Frontend & UX (m/f/d) Europe 



  • Design and implementation of our Birkenstock DTC e-commerce strategy in Europe and the associated technological platform in close coordination with business stakeholders and IT
  • Provide impetus in the context of frontend development and shaping the technology stack used as well as evaluating and introducing new technologies 
  • Responsibility for the continuous development of the frontend based on A/B testing, market monitoring and data analysis
  • Identification of optimization potentials in the European online stores and derivation of corresponding recommendations for action
  • Prioritization and successful implementation of projects, new features and use cases
  • Market and competition analyses and derivation of trends and measures for continuous performance improvement 
  • Management of external development agencies including management of the development budget
  • Responsibility for onsite KPIs and appropriate reporting to all relevant stakeholders
  • Disciplinary and functional leadership as well as setup and further development of the European Frontend & UX team (incl. localization, personalization, onsite merchandising, content, product owner, project manager, SEO)



  • At least five years of professional experience in e-commerce (ideally lifestyle and/or fashion) with a focus on customer centricity, content management, UX, Webshop development and product management 
  • At least two years of experience in leading, building and developing a team
  • A conceptual and solution-oriented approach to work
  • Good analytical skills and a confident approach to numbers, data and facts, as well as the appropriate use of tools to derive decisions and recommended actions (GA, Tableau, Lighthouse, Google DataStudio, etc.)
  • Knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript is a plus
  • Proficient with e-commerce store systems, ideally Salesforce, as well as agile web development (SCRUM, Kanban or LeSS / Agile frameworks) and Microsoft Office
  • Extensive experience with different testing methods for web applications
  • Very good English skills, understanding of European markets and intercultural competence
  • Hands-on mentality and the will to make things happen as well as experience in change processes
